Is Alamy worth it? ›

Alamy is a premium stock photo site. They are a little higher priced than some of the stock photo sites, but the quality of their photos is well worth it.

On average, more than three million images are added to Alamy's platform each month; The business has close to 120,000 customers worldwide.

500px offers some of the highest royalty rates in stock photography. As a paid Awesome member, you earn 70% royalties on non-exclusive photos and up to 100% on exclusive photos licensed. Free members likewise earn 60% on exclusive photos.

For photographers, it can be a steady source of income using both previous works and new shoots in which they call the shots from the subject to the post-processing treatment. For clients, it can be faster and more affordable than organizing their own shoots for commercial, editorial, or personal purposes.

Does Alamy accept AI-generated images? ›

While the sources for many AI image generation tools are at worst scraped or at best unclear we cannot accept AI generated material on Alamy and we continue to find and remove this.

Alamy is suitable for Startups, SMBs & Enterprises, whereas Shutterstock is suitable for Startups, SMBs, Mid-Market & Enterprises.

The bottom line. Alamy has a vast collection of stock images and videos, but the quality is mediocre, and prices are inexplicably high compared to competitors. Additionally, licensing terms and prices are complicated, and the company does not offer license indemnity.

Photography and illustrations need to pass our Quality Control (QC) checks. Make sure you check your images before you submit them so you can be confident they'll pass QC. Please note we are not currently accepting AI-generated imagery.

All elements of Alamy's websites, including, but not limited to, the general design and the content, are protected by trademarking, copyright, moral rights, trademark and other laws relating to intellectual property rights.

The average image license fee on Alamy is $30; we deal with a variety of clients so the prices do vary in different industries and countries. Generally, licenses for editorial uses achieve lower average prices than commercial uses – but our editorial clients tend to license stock images more frequently.

As a photographer you retain the copyright. Alamy just licenses your stock images for customers to use.
