JACK GARNER'S PLAN If all the first-run videos have been checked out by the time you get to the store, here's a tip from Jack Garner on one of the best of the rest. Treasure Island In addition to Disney's DVD release this week of Treasure Planet, the studio is releasing a rich, new DVD edition of the original influence: the studio's 1950 version of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. Bobby Driscoll makes a delightful Jim Hawkins (even though he doesn't tackle a British accent), but the performance of the film is Robert Newton's colorful, full-blown interpretation of Long John Silver. Shiver me timbers, it's a fun movie for all ages, Starring: Newton, Driscoll. Director: Byron Haskin.
