Author, Theodore Dreiser, visited North Manchester during the summer of 1915. Hisobservations of the community were included in his autobiography, "A Hoosier Holiday." John Knarr writes about Dreiser's family and includes material on the Snap/Snepp/Sheneb/Shenep/Schneb/Schnebb family as well as on the Fruit family.

A second article, "A Trip to Niagara Falls, 1925," was discovered among papers donated to the North Manchester Center for History by Descendants of Ellis and Harold Miller.
