Ok, so I was looking at Craigslist in searching for a fixer-upper. I think I found it. Though, I don't think the price is worth it. How much do you think this car should sell for?
Craigslist - 1990 "Parts" Miata. (http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/1489405389.html)
I certainly would love to rebuild her. What do you guys think?

The best place to ask this question may be in the Engine Conversion section. I'm sure many of them have probably found cars at an in expensive price to convert to V8. Unfortunately mine was a daily driver before I converted it. Good Luck.

Too many issues to spend $700, offer $500.

$500 may even be to much. My guess is it suffered the SNC fate and the parts won't make it run. $300-$400 would be ok

The car is in Sardinia Italy? Who's going to pay for the shipping to the states? You probably. The grammer in the ad is so poor, it's hard to tell what he's talking about. I wouldn't fork over $700.00 for something this questionable that I couldn't see first. Don't touch it!

Lol! Sardinia is a county in Cincinnati. And if I check it out, I'll be sure to have to see what Crank he's got. If it's SNC, I'll offer up maybe 200.
that's what my good friends said as well, that 700 is way too much.

If it is the original engine, then it is definitely a SNC since all 90s were SNC engines. I wouldn't give over $200-300 max. You could strip some usable parts off and then sell it to the salvage yard for scrap metal and get some of your $$ back.

It looks like it has a solid body, I maybe alone here but I think its priced right. You will probably be able to talk them down a little. Normal used car stuff.
If you find a miata that is in that kind of shape for $300 dollars please give me a call. I will pay to have it shipped. This is what you can expect for $300 OLD THREAD (http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=180386)
I ended up getting it for $315 and drove it for nearly 3 years. Here is what it looked like when I sold it: miata 1 (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s24/apptrumpet/Image0040.jpg) miata 2 (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s24/apptrumpet/Image038.jpg) miata 3 (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s24/apptrumpet/Image039.jpg) miata 4 (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s24/apptrumpet/Image051.jpg)
Sold it for $1700 with a total of just over $1000 invested (including the price of the car) I enjoyed the heck out of it and if the wife didn't talk me into selling it I would probably still have it. I should add that mine was still not in as good of condition as the one that your looking at getting.
This is all of course pending a good looking over in person. But, now you have my $.02

If the crank isn't damaged that could be a really good deal. Hard to say by the ad what's wrong with it and why it won't run right. Get a cheap Ebay top and fix the heat and wipers and you'll have a pretty nice car. Used tires are cheap enough. Sounds like this guy just wants to be rid of the car, so he'll probably take any semi-reasonable offer.

"Needs ignition coil? to run." With all the electrical problems, maybe its the battery. Since the seller doesn't mention miles, and its in Ohio, check for rust.

I think buying any miata that isn'tr running is a crap shoot, could be something as simple as a loose wire or two, or a total engine swap. I would price it as if it needed a replacement engine, and if it turns out to be something simple, so much the better. The owner obviously does not know what is wrong with the car, so assume the worst and hope for the best.

If you've got FREE access to a trailer, offer him a hundred bucks as a parts donor for your existing car -- it'll cost him that much to have it towed to a scrap yard.
If he takes it, you're both doing OK.
If not, no real loss to either of you.

As a price reference I bought a 1990 Miata with hardtop, 220k miles that ran strong, had rust issues but a decent soft top for $1,100 just few months ago. It was located in Hebron, KY. I think it is a bit much unless the body is rust free and you can determine that it is a simple/cheap fix.
